I host Trying Vegan with Mario where I invite expert vegan chefs, nutritionists and celebrities to teach me their best recipes.
I grew up in the area of Chicago where I would work at my dad’s Italian sausage factory. I have an Italian family where recipes and family cooking is a tradition. A lot of my recipe inspiration comes from this.
Before I became a host, I was a cooking show producer bringing to life other chef’s ideas. Many of the shows I worked on were focused on steak and animal fat. Then I learned about the benefits of a plant-based diet by witnessing my friend loose 100 lbs switching to a nutrient dense, plant-based diet. Once I learned about the health benefits of vegan food, I couldn’t stand producing these unhealthy shows so I created the pilot for my own cooking show. I created a show where I’m a non-vegan on a mission to discover vegan cooking and learn about this newly explosive food industry.
Trying Vegan with Mario Season 1 first launched on Roku in Summer 2018. Season 2 was picked up for television in NYC airing on channel 1 Wednesday mornings.
